Schools League kicks off today

The action gets off the ground today as all and sundry will be looking to dethrone Pine Hill St. Leonard’s Boys’ in the Barbados Secondary Schools Football League Under-19 Competition. With the Richmond lads making a clean sweep of the tournaments last year, teams will be gunning for them.

The Barbados Vocational Training have joined the ranks this year, bringing the total complement to 18 teams. Divided into two leagues, Alexandra School, Barbados Community College, Christ Church Foundation, Combermere, Harrison College, St. Leonard’s, Queen’s College, Lester Vaughan and the Lodge School make up League 1. League 2 consists Coleridge and Parry, Deighton Griffith, Ellerslie, Princess Margaret, Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, St. George Secondary, Tang Parkinson, the St. Michael School and the newcomers.
 
There are eight games slated for this evening and they are all scheduled to kick off at 3:30 PM. In League 1, Lester Vaughan are playing host to Combermere, BCC travel to Husbands to see Queen’s College, Alexandra are home for Harrison College, and Foundation go to St. John for Lodge.
 
League 2 fixtures have Ellerslie traveling to the Polytechnic for their first game. On the other side of the street, Parkinson will be hosting the St. Michael School. 
 
The Vocational Training Board will be making their debut at Coleridge and Parry and Deighton Griffith are in Six Roads to visit Princess Margaret. (MP)
