Primary schools unite for Sports Day

THE Usain Bolt complex played host to three schools on Friday as St. Elizabeth, St. Joseph and St. Bernard’s Primary combined to host their Annual Inter-House athletic Championships.

At St. Elizabeth despite the efforts of Victrix and Victor ludorum Isha Adamson and Shemario Holder – both from Green House – they could not stop Orange House from retaining their title with 576 points to Green’s 568.

Adamson competing in the Under-13 girls division won the 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 600 metres, and long jump, while placing second in cricket ball throw to finish with 53 points.

The Victor ludorum Holder also competed in the Under-13 Division and he won the 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, while placing second in the cricket ball throw and the long jump to finish with 56 points.

At St. Joseph Primary Taylor (Blue) successfully defended their title to win with 302 points. Second place went to Massiah (Red) with 286 and Johnson (Yellow) was third with 216.

The Victrix ludorum was Imani Firebrace from Yellow House. Competing in the Under-13 girls she won 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 600 metres open to collect 40 points.

The Victor ludorum was Zane Cox competing in the under 11. Cox won the 100 metres, 200 metres and was fourth in the 400 for 24 points.

Blue House did manage to capture the girls Under-11 Division thanks to sprint queen Shauntoria Phillips who won the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres to collect 30 points.

With the field events still to be completed leading St. Bernard’s Primary was Hurley (Purple) with 618 points, while Deane (Orange) was second with 558 points and Alleyne (Yellow) was third with 446 points.

Some of the outstanding athletes of the day included Under-13 Girl Kymara Trotman (Yellow) who won the 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres; Under-11 Girl, Sherya Marshall (Orange) who was first in the 400 metres and 600 metres, third in the 200 metres and fourth in the 100 metres. Also, Under -11 Boy, Ishmael Hinkson (Purple) who came first in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres, and Under-9 athletes Shavaldo Nicholls (Yellow) and Kiokya Clarke (Orange). (CG)
