Pine Hill NAPSAC creating excitement

Schools and spectators had plenty to cheer about even with the showers of blessing on Wednesday as the athletes worked hard to qualify for the Semi-Final round of the Pine Hill National Primary Schools Athletics Championship.

Though there was only two records broken at the Quarter-Finals, the total so far is now 37 for 2017 which shows that the level of athletics at primary school level has risen. Last year’s years champions, West Terrace in the Girls’ Division and St. Stephens in the Boys’ are keen on defending their title. However at this stage the goal is to do their best at the Semi-finals next week and qualify for the finals.

The Ryan Brathwaite track has produced good times this year. With names like Josiah Cato of Roland Edwards, Daniel Duncan of Bayley’s and Shamari Addison of St. Alban’s looking to improve at each level of the
championship, the stage is set for a competitive Semi-Finals. The Girls’ Division did not disappoint either and all the Divisions had close qualifying times.

The hope is that the weather will be significantly better next week and all athletics fans, and also parents who can take time off to come watch, are encouraged to come out and take in the action. (AS)
