Nine horses for Gold Cup

The Barbados Turf Club (BTC) and Sandy Lane Hotel yesterday hosted a press conference at the Incitatus Members Lounge, Garrison Savannah, St Michael, to announce the draw for post positions, for the 39th running of the Gold Cup, of which Sandy Lane Hotel has sponsored for what will now be the 24th year.

Rosette Peirce, Secretary/CEO of the Barbados Turf Club, thanked all those attending, and had a special thanks for Sandy Lane Hotel, that this year will be sponsoring the race once again. There are nine horses entered.

Randall Wilkie, General Manager of Sandy Lane Hotel, thanked all present for attending, and said that Sandy Lane Hotel is once again pleased to be associated with the Barbados Turf Club, in sponsoring the 39th running of the Gold Cup race, of which they are very proud to be the sponsors of the race for the 24th straight year.

The Sandy Lane General Manager, went on to say that the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup race has become a world class sporting event, attracting regional and international competitors, and carries one of the most sought after trophies.

Wilkie took the opportunity to thank the dedicated owners, trainer, jockeys and all those involved in making the race the success that it has been over the years, and he now looks forward to another fantastic race day, on Saturday, March 7th.

Barbados Turf Club, Director, John Chandler, thanked Sandy Lane Hotel for their generous and continued sponsorship of the race. He also thanked all the overseas competitors for supporting the race, as well as local owners who have brought in horses from overseas to compete in this very prestigious race.
