Kraigg Brathwaite hits century as Barbados Pride win

Barbados Pride’s opening batsman, Kraigg Brathwaite, recorded his second century in the WICB Regional Super50 Zone B tournament to pilot his team to an impressive 171-run victory over the ICC Americas in Round 6 at the Windward Cricket ground at Lucas Street yesterday.

It was also Barbados Pride’s second victory by a huge margin as they had defeated the CCC Marooners by 200 runs on Wednesday.

The West Indian batsman, Brathwaite, who also went on to capture the Man of the Match award, scored 108 runs off 134 balls, which included seven boundaries and one six and was a solid partner for other batsmen until the 46th over when he was dismissed with the score on 244/5 against the ICC Americas.

Brathwaite’s first century came against Guyana as he continues his rich form in the tournament.

Barbados Pride posted a total of 282/9 and Brathwaite was well supported by Jonathan Carter, who scored 57 runs off 56 balls and struck three fours and one six. Also chipping in was Roston Chase with 40 runs.

In reply, ICC Americas were bowled out for 111 runs in 33.4 overs.

Leading the bowling attack was Captain and fast bowler, Jason Holder, who took 3/25 off his 10 overs. He was well supported by fellow fast bowler, Kemar Roach, who took 2/22 but had five overs remaining; and left-arm spinner, Jomel Warrican, with 2/18. Also picking up wickets were Ashley Nurse and Brathwaite with one wicket each. (CG)
