Jonathan Carter has been named as captain of the Barbados Pride.

Carter to lead Barbados Pride

Jonathan Carter will lead the Barbados Pride for the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Colonial Medical Insurance Super50 Cup in St. Kitts & Nevis and Trinidad & Tobago, November 6 to December 1.

At a media conference yesterday at Kensington Oval, the team was announced by head selector Henderson Broome who sought to explain the team they had selected for the series.

Barbados will be missing Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Roston Chase, Kraigg Brathwaite, Shamarh Brooks, Shane Dowrich, Jomel Warrican, and Kemar Roach all who are expected to represent the West Indies in the upcoming series against Afghanistan in India from November 1 to December 2.

Carter who has been in form recently will lead the team which has a mixture of experience and youth.

In a hope to showcase the quality and depth of Barbados Pride, Carter mentioned he expects them to go all the way this time and is confident with the pool of players he has been placed in charge of.

Attending the media conference were head coach of the team Emmerson Trotman, president of the Barbados Cricket Association Conde Riley, captain of the team Jonathan Carter and chairman of the selectors Henderson Broomes
Riley highlighted that the team has been preparing since July for the tournament as well as all the members passing the regional fitness test a few weeks ago.

“Our team came out tops for the second consecutive year and one player, Chemar Holder, scored the highest in the region with 67.

Trotman mentioned that they have been working hard in the batting and he is confident they will be able to put the runs on the board.

The Barbados Pride are in Group A with defending champions Combined Campuses & Colleges Marooners, as well as hosts Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Jamaica Scorpions and invitational side Canada. The matches which will be played at Warner Park and Conaree Sports Complex in St. Kitts for this year’s competition.
