The tug of war winners Green House giving their all to secure victory.

Blues narrowly win West Terrace Infants’ Sports Day

With hundreds of children taking to the track on Friday, West Terrace was among one of them, as their infants converged on the school grounds for their turn in the spotlight.

However there was more than just the regular track events which many have grown accustomed to when it comes to school sports, there were also some novelty events which kept the youngest of the schools smiling and having fun in
the sun. With a mixture of track and novelty events the students contested the 50 metres, 60 metres, 75 metres, 100 metres, ball pick-up, Bean bag, almond and spoon, fill-a-bottle sack race and tug of war.

Blue House managed to squeeze home with the victory finishing with 109 points in a narrow victory. Second place Green House was a mere four points behind as the final event of the day the Tug-o-war determined the final places.

With ten points up for grabs, Blue was almost assured of the title, while Purple needed to win and hope somehow that Blue was disqualified and received no points.

Blue finished at the bottom of the tug or war, but secured enough points hold onto the title, however Purple (103) slipped from its second place as Green (105) narrowly eased ahead by two points for second place. Fourth went to Red House with
95 points.

Some of the outstanding athletes on the day included Franklyn Durant and Ziede Greaves from Green House, Taylor-Rai Wiggins from Red, Nathan Branch from Blue and Arian Watkins from Purple. (CG)
