Big wins abound in BICO tourney

Several teams in the North have gotten off to a good start with massive margins of victory when the 2017 BICO National Sports Council Primary Schools’ Football Competition kicked off this past week. With games being played in zones 1, 4, 5 and 7 on Friday, the Zone 1 fixtures saw all the games played at Speightstown ending extremely one-sided.

Roland Edwards was the first team to pick up points in the zone as they steam-rolled Half Moon Fort for a 4-0 win. Davonte Alleyne Edwards led the charge with a brace as Ashe Underwood and Jadane Gilkes added one goal each to the tally.

All Saints’ Primary were also 4-0 winners, having had a good game over Boscobelle Primary. Joshua Husbands and Tijah Bishop both had a brace each to bring up the total. The other game at Speightstown saw Gordon Greenidge trumping Selah Primary by two goals after scoring three. Daniel Best, Nyah Hope and Keidasha Thomas all chipped in with a goal each. Selah’s consolation came through the efforts of Ramearo Samuels.

Over at Gall Hill in Zone 5 action, St. Jude’s Primary edged out Mount Tabor Primary for a 3-2 win. Zikari Johnson, Donte Gill and Shamari Harewood all had a goal each for St. Jude’s; while Javon Mayers pulled one back for Mount Tabor. The other goal came from an own-goal.

St. Gabriel’s and St. Winifred’s both scored four goals each in their Zone 7 clashes at Briar Hall. St. Gabriel’s came up against St. Christopher’s and had Ethan Wood do all the heavy lifting as he came away from the game with a beaver-trick. St. Christopher’s did not leave empty-handed as Adriano Bascombe scored twice to save his team some face.

St. Winifred’s faced very little resistance in their match against St. Lawrence Primary as they strolled to a 4-0 win. Two goals from Adrian Moore, along with one each from Ephraim Gill and Ronan Lee saw St. Winifred’s to their first points of the season.

The tournament continues on Monday with games at Speightstown, Blenheim, Greens, Gall Hill and Briar Hall.
