BCA MEMBERS HONOURED

Kevin Stoute and Kycia Knight carried off the top awards when the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) took time out to honour
its members on Friday evening at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC).

Stoute is the Barbados Pride and Empire Club All-rounder who amassed 613 runs during the BCA Elite season at an average 68.11, which included two centuries, one of which was an undefeated 150 against Home Improvement/Sierka Rentals Maple.

Stoute also captured 13 wickets in the eight matches which he played in the season, while scoring 186 runs in the Sagicor Cup where he also took 16 wickets.
He also captained the Barbados Pride and returned to the team for the final two matches after an injury to opener Anthony Alleyne.

Knight played for the West Indies women’s team that won the T-20 World Cup in India though she did not play in the final. She is a batswoman and wicketkeeper and has played for Barbados in the regional competition. In the domestic competition she plays for Angela Harris Tridents.

During the ceremony a video presentation to honour the life work of cricket all-round Journalist Tony Cozier was aired.

The feature speaker, Carlos Best from Digicel, spoke about how technology influence has had an enormous impact on sports.

In his presentation he spoke about the past, the present and the future as it relates to how it impacts on the athlete be it clothes, footwear, equipment and data collection.

The president’s award went to Chemar Holder and the BCA also honoured some of its members with special awards such as Wendell Kellman for his long service to the Association. Richard Stoute, Mervyn Jones, Pamela Lavine, Vincent Bullen and Patricia Greenidge all received appreciation awards. (CG)
