‘Champion for Terrainium’ had it all

THRILLS, spills and plenty action. It was that and more when the Off Road Junkies 246 held ‘A Champion for Terrainium’ at the Vaucluse Raceway on Sunday.

With action starting from 10 a.m. and slated to go until 10 p.m., fans and competitors had their fill of what ‘Off Road’ competition is all about.

4X4 vehicles, as well as dirt motorcycles ,were all part of the action, as well as the fans, who had a hot dog eating competition during intermission.

For the competition, there was wet, dry and hills, rock pits, frame twisters and a first for the island – a vehicle see-saw.

With 23 4x4 vehicles and 18 motorcycles all lining up for the various challenges throughout the day, the event was dubbed a success by organiser Dave Lowe, who said the course was compact and full of all the elements one would see in an overseas event.

Drivers tested their skills and their machines over the course, with penalties being handed out for taking the wrong direction, or taking a short cut after not being able to make it through a challenge.

Winners were determined by times, and another popular area was the mud pit, which was filled with water pumped from a pond for well over 30 minutes.

The presentation of awards will be held this Friday at the same venue. (CG)
