NOTEBOOK: Bridgetown requires turnaround

Bridgetown, once a very busy city, appears to be losing a lot of its shine. And something needs to be done to restore it before it is too late.

Nowadays you go through the City and the activity which was once a feature of the area, is very lacking. It is known that the country (like the rest of the world) is going through COVID-19 pandemic which is being managed here as best as the country can. So while current situation can be put down to the virus, the activity before in Bridgetown was still not what it used to be. So COVID-19 has aggravated the prevailing situation in the City, with thousands of persons having lost their jobs and not being able to patronise businesses.

Everyone will also agree that the emergence of new commercial areas like Wildey, Warrens, Haggatt Hall, and Redmans Village among others, put the squeeze on Bridgetown since several of the services offered in the City can be done in comfort in those areas referred to earlier.

We wait to see how things will be turned around in The City.
