The Blue House Bulldogs celebrating their first win since 2016 yesterday at the National Stadium.

Bulldogs chomp through the competition at QC

After last winning a championship back in 2016, the Bulldogs of Blue House found their way back to the top of the totem pole at Queen’s College. With the Husbands institution hosting their annual Inter-House Championship yesterday at the National Stadium, Blue House showed the rest a clean pair of heels as they racked up 842 points.

The Purple House Pythons (796) were happy with their second place, having not had a podium finish in years, while third place went to defending champions Yellow House Panthers on 772. Green House Dragons, despite amassing the most points in the boys (426), had to settle for fourth overall with 718 points. The Red House Raptors and the Orange House Cheetahs rounded out the group with 645 and 593 respectively.

Although there were no clear division champions up until press time, there were some athletes that left their mark on the day’s proceedings. In the Division 4 Girls, it was Danya Skeete that had the best day. Despite a third-place finish in the 100-metre behind Kaela Hinds of Red and Savannah Small of Purple, she gave full points to the Dragons in the 200-metre with a time of 29.57 seconds, 66.85 in the 400-metre and 3:10.81 minutes in the 800-metre.

Purple picked up some points in the Division 4 Boys through the efforts of Keono Cumberbatch as he broke the line first in the 100-metre (13.82), 200-metre (28.02) and 400-metre (63.49). His perfect streak was ended by teammate Jakob Lambert in the 800-metre. Lambert had 2:51.51 while Cumberbatch was second in 2:59.51 minutes.

Nicholi Cadogan of the Raptors gave a good showing in the Division 3 Boys. He started his day with a second-place finish in the 100-metre after clocking the exact same 12:17 as eventual winner, Donnico Howell of Orange House. He repaid Howell in the 200-metre, putting up 24.65 to his 24.91, and ran 56.45 in the 400-metre.

The best on the day in Division 3 was Chiara Beckles and everything she touched turned to gold. The Orange House athlete finished first in the 100 (13.54), 200 (27.09), 400 (63.25) and 800 (2:51.46).

The Division 2 Boys was a tough one to call, but John Clarke of the Pythons looked to lead the chase on the day. He finished down the line for a fifth place in the 100-metre, but clocked 23.86 in the 200-metre and 52.12 in the 400. He was also good for second place in the Triple Jump behind Adam Munroe of Purple (12.55) with 12.14 metres. It was much easier to discern the leader in the Girls as Nya Browne was up front and centre for Green House in the 100 (12.69), 200 (25.15) and 400 (60.60).

Aaron Jones brought some points for the Bulldogs with his performances on the day and he was flawless, clocking 11.55 in the Division 1 100-metre, 23.05 in the 200-metre, and leaping 11.83 metres in the Triple Jump.

Kamille Gaskin-Griffith had a hefty haul on the day for Yellow House, racking up wins in the 100-metre and 200-metre. She ran 12.71 seconds and 26.20 seconds respectively and then went on to leap 1.40 metres for second place in the High Jump behind Green’s Satera Yarde. She was also second in the Triple Jump with 10.18 metres behind Kimani Archer of Purple who leapt 10.41 metres.
