Two unbeaten in school league

Harrison College A and Queen’s College remain undefeated at the top of the Co-operators General Insurance Under-16 Schools’ Basketball competition standings.

With five wins each, the two teams are showing that they are the ones to watch in the tournament. College has had the better showing with the larger winning margin in their victories. Most recently, they took down Combermere 89-12 and before that they outworked St. Michael’s 59-12.

Queen’s College’s latest conquest was a 46-31 win against Ellerslie. The defending champions are playing well, but the true test will be when Queen’s College and Harrison College A meet.

St. Michael’s and Lodge have lost one game apiece with four wins. St. Michael’s were consistent on the court against Graydon Sealy Secondary to win 26-13. Zishan Motara finished with 9, while Khato Moore scored 6 and Adrian Yarde 4 for the winners. Nicholas Thorne had 6 and Rodston Best put up 3 for Graydon Sealy. Lodge had to work harder for the win and in the end went up by 7, 34-27, beating Deighton Griffith.

Harrison College B faced Codrington School and led all four quarters. The first quarter score was 8-6 and at half-time it was a 10-point lead for College, 17-7. Unfortunately for Codrington, the deficit grew to 20, 33-13 with ten minutes to play. In the end, the final 39-23 score showed that HC does not only have one team.

Damani Bynoe-Forde with 15 points was the top scorer in the game hailing for Harrison College and Tyrrell Gill added 12 points. Nicholas Lemieux had a game-high 12 points and Michael Thompson was good for 11. (AS)
