JetBlue Airways passengers to New York impacted by Thursday’s cancellations due to Winter Storm Grayson were able to depart the island yesterday.

Airline working to get back on schedule

JetBlue Airways passengers who were due to depart for New York on Thursday, January 4 were able to do so yesterday.

However, Flight 1261 scheduled to arrive at Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) from New York’s Kennedy International Airport was cancelled.

Even though flight activity at JFK resumed after being temporarily suspended on Thursday because of the severe impact of Winter Storm Grayson, some delays and cancellations were still being experienced.

JetBlue’s Corporate Communications representative, Brian Mazur, said challenging weather conditions like strong winds, below freezing temperatures, and blowing snow continued to
impact operations.

He is therefore encouraging customers to check the status of their flights prior to travelling.

“We are also adding extra flights to support displaced customers where we can,” he said.

Mazur also disclosed that JetBlue is working to assist impacted customers with rescheduling or refunds. He explained that for existing customers with scheduled flights through impacted cities, JetBlue continues to waive change fees and differences in airfare for rebooking.

“Details on these waivers and a full list of impacted cities can be found on our website. If your flight has been disrupted, you can change/refund your reservation on the ‘Manage flights’ page on www.jetblue.com,” he indicated.
