Speaker Anthony Green addressing the students of the Parkinson Memorial Secondary School.

Students given leadership advice

Students of the Parkinson Memorial Secondary School have been encouraged to be innovative, resourceful and to maintain a positive attitude.

This advice came from guest speaker and old scholar of the school, Troy Holder, at the recently held Leadership Conference, which was organised on behalf of the school’s Students’ Council by the school’s positive behaviour management programme committee, chaired by teachers Faith Brooks and Chad Blackman.

The conference, which was held in conference room 1 of Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, had as its theme, “Leadership starts with you: Building our future”.

The students were also given advice about being focused and dedicated to their goals by the second guest speaker, Anthony Green. They were asked to shape their environment instead of allowing it to shape them.

After the presentations, the Students’ Council held a town hall meeting, allowing for those in attendance to ask questions about the pressing issues being experienced by students at the school.

The PRO of the Council Daveena Bayliss thanked the sponsors of the event: Sky Mall Management, Co-operators General Insurance, Banks Holdings Ltd, Carters Bakery, Brydens Express and Wibisco.
