St. John residents told: You deserve better

Every bad relationship must come to an end.

Likening the bond of St. John residents and the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) as that between a woman and a man full of false promises, Dr. Sonia Nurse, the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) candidate for St. Philip North, told the constituents that their loyalty was no longer being earned.

“St. John held on … and fell for the manifesto promises and fell for the promises of new roads and I can honestly say that the roads of St. John have been the worst roads that Barbados has seen. This from a parish that has enjoyed the representation of two Prime Ministers. You deserve better and I hope that you know that,” she noted.

Addressing a BLP mass meeting in Four Roads, St. John on Thursday night, Nurse described the bus service and garbage collection in the area as dismal, as well as the water issues that plagued several areas last year.

“We have the polyclinic. I gave them kudos for that for a minute … but the thing is not finished. We operating in a big place that is empty, with the same staff, the wait is still the same. (It is) a pretty building with still the same infrastructure. This is what you got,” she continued.

The medical doctor expressed concerns about the Barbados Drug Service, stating that it was sorely lacking in supplying medication.

“Soon you will hear that the drug formulary is becoming an all-generic drug formulary, so people would have to be shifted from the medication they are used to and the medication that they are controlled on to start all over again,” she continued.

Nurse therefore urged the constituents of the DLP stronghold to change their allegiance.

“Forget about the empty promises... Find somebody who will help you take care of your children. Find somebody that will see that your children can be educated again at UWI, because we are coming with a plan,” she remarked. (JMB)
