St. Boniface Nursery celebrates ten years

It was a time of celebration at the St. Boniface Nursey School on Wednesday as the educational institutional observed its tenth anniversary.

This event was also comprised of two firsts. These were namely, the inaugural hoisting of the school’s flag and a first-time performance of the school’s song. The song was composed by parent and tutor in the Music Department at the Barbados Community College, Shawn Layne. He was also in attendance.

Principal, Valerian Millar, in her Welcome told the gathering that the school has been an environment of love and safety and trust for students over the ten years. She thanked the Education Ministry and applauded everyone for the support given to the school from its inception until present day.

Meanwhile, President of the Association of Public Primary School Principals, Marielon Gamble commended the St. Boniface Nursery’s students and staff on reaching a decade. She noted that “the vital role formal education plays in the life of our preschool children is rapidly gaining prominence in our island.”

Past student and teacher, Joan Hinds, on the other hand provided highlights of how the school has transformed over the years. She also shared her own experience attending; then working and later being the parent and grandparent of two past pupils of the school.

Hinds used the occasion to urge the parents and guardians to be nice to teachers and to get to know the names of their children’s class teachers. She encouraged them to appropriastely refer to these teachers by their names. She also urged
parents to refer to their children by their names and not as “little man or little woman.”
