Senator Rogers welcomes new pavilion to be built at The Glebe

Rector of the St. George Parish Church, Senator Reverend Dr. John Rogers, is amongst those welcoming with open arms the long in coming brand new state-of-the-art pavilion and multipurpose hardcourt, which is scheduled to be built at The Glebe in St. George, over the next six months.

On Friday, Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Dwight Sutherland, accompanied by St. George North Member of Parliament, Toni Moore, held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site where preparations were made a few years ago for the pavilion, which will be located on the playing field on the opposite side of the St. George Parish Church.

Sutherland, who noted that the pavilion and accompanying facilities which should be completed in 24 weeks by M&M Engineering Services at a cost of $600,000, openly thanked Senator Rogers for his contribution over the years in seeking to improve the area and for the implementation of a beautification project in the vicinity as well.

Senator Rogers, who spoke with The Barbados Advocate briefly after the groundbreaking ceremony, meanwhile stated, “I welcome the initiative, because I see it as an opportunity for young people in the area to have a facility to which they can come and friendships can be forged, bonds can be built and also a place where they can learn the lessons of life, in a safe and controlled environment. So I welcome this and I look forward to everything that will take place here and the developments that will come, for generations to come.” (RSM)
