Public urged to be more alert

IN light of a Brittons Hill robbery last weekend, Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith is urging store owners, shoppers, and vendors, to be extra careful as they go about their activities during the busy Christmas season.

Following a walk through of The City with other top brass of the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF), Commissioner Griffith said while two persons have been arrested and charged of robbing food vendor David Benn and six of his customers, at Brittons Cross Road, Brittons Hill, St. Michael, on Saturday December 16, he wants store owners and shoppers to put necessary security measures in place.

“We don’t like for it to happen, but we move assiduously to ensure that we solve those matters. In solving those matters, it means that at least for some period of time those people are out of the way,” Griffith said.

The Commissioner said while the annual Yuletide police programme is in full effect, thus far, the increase patrols have impacted positively in relation to the incidence of criminal activities in The City.

During the walk through, Griffith took time out to interact with vendors and shoppers, as he observed the general atmosphere in The City.
“We are still asking persons visiting The City to be mindful,” he said.

Adrian Romario Mottley, 21, of #13 Watermill Place, Bayville, St. Michael, and 16-year-old Ajani Anthony Brathwaite appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ court yesterday to answer to the charges and were remanded. (AH)
