PM tours Nightingale Children’s Village

The major expansion and modernisation of The Nightingale Children’s Village at Black Rock have won the nod of approval of Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.

The Prime Minister expressed pleasure at the state of the facility and the level of care being offered to its residents when she visited the complex on Monday evening for their annual Christmas Party.

After interacting with the children, the staff of the village and officials of the Barbados Children’s Trust, which supports the complex, Prime Minister Mottley and officials of the Child Care Board toured the facility, including two new buildings that should be ready for occupation by Easter.

The Nightingale Children’s Village provides residential care for children with special needs, among others, in a number of modern cottages, along with regular day-care facilities.

The two new buildings will allow the Child Care Board to expand the day-care component while upgrading and expanding facilities for administration and training.

Monday’s party was organised as a treat for children who reside in Child Care Board homes across the island.
