The team from PAHO were afforded a tour of the BDF FMT, with Lt Col Browne, who further explained the strategic goals for the BDF FMT to receive its Type 2 classification.

PAHO donates over 60 000 protective supplies

The Barbados Defence Force recently received a donation of protective supplies from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) during ceremony, its Field Medical Team Facilty. The donation comprised of seven thousand (7000) N95 masks, with sixty thousand (60,000) surgical masks and gowns each. Dr Karen Polson, PAHO Advisor and COVID 19 Incident Manager, presented the supplies Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Junior Browne.

 

Dr Polson stated, “that part of PAHOs mandate was to strengthen the capacity of organizations like the BDF, response to any disaters or hazardous events.”  She further explained, that the contribution was in recognition of the BDFs support in the fight against COVID-19 and efforts in the aftermath of the La Soufriere volcano eruptions in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

 

During the presentation ceremony, Lt Col Browne indicated that “the protective supplies would be placed immediately into action across the Force during its continuous operations and deployments.
