NCF plans right on track

With the start of the Crop Over Festival season right around the corner, Corporate Communications Specialist at the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) has assured that so far everything is going according to their plans and they are excited for the start of the festive season.

Simone Codrington revealed this while speaking with The Barbados Advocate on the sidelines of one of the NCF’s first events, the Crop Over Heritage Bus Tour, which took place in Queen’s Park on Wednesday evening.

“We usually start our planning process from about pretty much right after the previous season ends, so we go through the calendar, make the decisions on what events we would have for the year so once the year breaks and we have the launch of the season with our sponsors, it’s all full throttle into the events for Crop Over,” she said.

Codrington revealed that the season starts June 2, with the much-anticipated Crop Over Xplosion followed by their Church Service and Bus Tour. Noting that the recently passed 2018 General Elections did not affect their planning process, she noted that they were right on schedule.

“So, pretty much we’re on schedule. We might have been a little quite through the General Election season, just to let that pass, but now we’re fully on schedule,” she said.

She added that they were excited about the changes that were in store for some of the upcoming events, such as the Heritage Bus Tour, which took a “different slant” this year.

She revealed that they also had a big change coming to Bridgetown Market that persons can look forward too, as well as the big change to the Crop Over Xplosion that is supposed to target the younger market and “hopefully it will – hence the reason for the
change in the name and stuff like that.”
