administrative assistant at the District Administration Office. 

Nazarene Church celebrates clergy, parishioners

 

This year marks ninety-one years that the Church of the Nazarene has been in existence in Barbados. As it approaches its centennial, the present District Superintendent of the Barbados District, Reverend Dr. Orlando Seale said that they are committed to engaging the community with a plan set for 2020, which has envisioned all members of the Nazarene in the process of developing, engaging and having intercession. 
 
On January 29, the members of the various Nazarene Churches on the island gathered at the Western Light of the Nazarene in Oxnards, St. James to celebrate the clergy and their spouses as well as the church members both young and old who served the church in some capacity.  
 
Special awards were given to Reverend Clyde C. Greenidge posthumously and his wife Marjorie Greenidge for his 48 years of Ministry in the Church of the Nazarene, Barbados District and his service as District Superintendent where he held that position for seventeen years.
 
Another special award was given to Rev. Dr. Schofield Eversley and Rev. Dr. Margaret Eversley for 50 years of Ministry in the Church of the Nazarene, Barbados District. Lastly, in the special awards category, Rev. Dr. Orlando Seale and his wife Marcelle Seale received a plaque for 32 years of Ministry in the Church of the Nazarene, Barbados District, 15 years as pastor and the past 18 years as District Superintendent. 
 
Other awardees included Rev. Dr. Elcock who gave 30 years as Pastor and meritorious service to the District Advisory Board. Rev. Dr. Elcock had pastored at Cliff Cottage, Black Rock and presently Ruby Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Dr. Martel Farley and Pastor George Lowe who were recognised for meritorious service to the District Advisory Board and 29 and ten years of being a pastor respectively.  
 
Awards for long Service award for meritorious service to finance committee; special long service; appreciation Award; Superintendent award; appreciation for 21-40 years service;11-20 years of meritorious service to the church and 1-10 years of meritorious service to the church were also given.
