Leadership Summit providing tools for success

Individuals at the helm of businesses and organisations across the island have been equipped with tools to assist them to better execute their role.

These tools were imparted when they attended the two-day Global Leadership Summit Barbados at the MPower Complex on Country Road in St. Michael. The training event attracted not only pastors, heads of local schools and companies, but students from educational institutions such as The St Michael School, Daryl Jordan Secondary School, Springer Memorial School and the Lester Vaughan School.

Chairman of the Leadership Summit Barbados, who is the host of the Global Leadership Summit, Ronnie Quimby, said the annual conference is in its second year. During the two-year period “over 300” individuals have attended. He added that the attendance this year “has been lovely”.

Quimby pointed out that on this occasion attention was paid to helping leaders develop the ability to be more creative and innovative.

“The Global Leadership Summit is an international summit whose focus is on leadership and developing leaders. It is geared towards helping leaders get better. One of the focuses or beliefs of the Global Leadership Summit is that when leaders get better everybody wins.”

He added, “this particular year we are giving attention to helping persons develop the ability to be more creative and innovative and we are also giving attention to building courage because leaders need to stand for what is right. So we are focusing on justice, standing against what is wrong but generally it is there to help companies, help organisations, help individuals really and truly get steps, not just steps, actionable steps, things that they can actually leave here and go an implement to make their lives better.”(MG)
