Kiwanis Pride upgrades play park

IN the presence of Parliamentary Representative for St. James South constituency, the Honourable Donville Inniss and the residents of the area, Kiwanis Club Pride of Barbados (KCPOB) unveiled the newly refurbished Toddler’s Park.

Located in Oxnards, St. James, President of KCPOB, Donna Archer, explained the play park was completed through the assistance and sponsorship of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank. During the launch on Sunday, Archer added with the bank’s generous gesture, KCPOB was able to attach a new slide to the playhouse and repaint the playhouse and park benches.

The charity was also able to facilitate the installation of Lily the Safety Bug Sign, which gives the children tips on how to be safe when using the park. The president said Newtech Incorporated did the installation of the sign.

Archer also expressed her appreciation to General Manager of the National Conservation Commission (NCC), Keith Neblett and his team for ensuring the slide was safely secured to the playhouse along with its repairs, and maintenance of the grounds.

At the end of her remarks, the president said that in recognition of Arbor Day, the club and their cyber club Kiwanis Club Pride Online will be beautifying the park with some additional plants on Heroes Day, April 28, 2018.

Another project planned for the St. James South constituency is the construction of a ramp for a physically disabled person in the area at a date and time to be announced. As she concluded, she reinforced the mission of her organisation.

“By executing various projects, we are bringing to life the Vision of Kiwanis International which states, ‘Kiwanis is a global organisation of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time.’”
