Ince going after St. George North constituency

The Democratic Labour Party’s candidate for St. George North, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Jepter Ince has expressed concern about the deterioration of infrastructure in that constituency.

Ince, who is confident he can end the Barbados Labour Party’s winning streak in that constituency, said he was “not comfortable looking through the window” and declared that it was “time enough” that he entered through the door, in reference to taking a seat in the House of Assembly. His comments came as he contended that the St. George North constituency has been neglected for too long and
promised to work with and share with the constituents. The only thing he said he will ask for in return is their vote.

“As a result of working with you and sharing with you, we are going to succeed together,” he maintained.

His comments came as he said that even though he was not serving in the Lower House, he remained committed to the constituency and had advocated to have issues he knew existed in the constituency corrected. He explained that including the bridge between Belair and Market Hill, which he said he pressed then Minister of Transport and Works, John Boyce to have completed. Ince noted that bridge was completed sometime ago and is now needs to be painted and cleaned and such work, he said, is to be undertaken as a community project.

Noting also that there are some roads that are in need of repair, he said he has been assured by the current the Minister of Transport and Works, Michael Lashley that such work will also be executed. Ince revealed that work is to be done to the road from Market Hill to Cottage, and remedial work is earmarked for the junction of Sweet Vale into Redland and Airy Hill.

“The current MP was the Minister of Transport and Works and people said to me Mr. Ince the infrastructure of St. George was not repaired in the last 30 or 40 years, so these things need to be done and they are going to be done under a Democratic Labour Party Government with a representative in Jepter Ince,” he said.

To secure victory, Ince made it clear that he prepared to do the work it takes, and will be knocking at every door in his quest to secure the votes that he will require. He made the point while noting that more than 35 per cent, some 3 351 of the registered voters in that constituency, do not vote.

“I have decided I am going to find them, we have to find them and I am going to knock on every door and ask for that vote and that support because Gline Clarke must go… If they are not voting they are disappointed with the current representation they are getting, so it is my job to go out there, my team to go out there and get them out,” he stated.
