Ignatius Byer wins Northern Independence Quiz

 

Ignatius Byer Primary School were the winners of the annual Treasured Occasions Independence Quiz 2016 which was held at the Daryll Jordan Secondary School.
 
Fiona Griffith, the coordinator of the event stated that the organisation wanted to contribute to Barbados’ 50th Anniversary Celebrations, so a new category called “Bajan Sayings & Icons of Culture & Sports” was added.
 
All four of the primary schools in St. Lucy were represented at this year’s quiz: Half Moon Fort Primary, Selah Primary, St. Lucy’s Primary and the eventual winners - Ignatius Byer Primary.
 
The categories were “General Knowledge”, “Spelling”, “Bajan Sayings” & “Multi-media (Cultural & Sports Icons)”. The quiz was aimed at assisting in the development and building self confidence and team spirit.
 
The winners each received Tablets sponsored by Andrew Firebrace, as well as trophies and one hundred & fifty dollars ($150) in Republic Junior Savers Accounts compliments of the Charles Duncan O’Neal Lodge 1720 – which was the 
titled sponsor. 
 
The Teacher, Ms Springer of the winning school also won a trophy and a lunch voucher.
 
It is anticipated that this years’ quiz will be bigger and better.™
