Charles Herbert has resigned as chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association.

Herbert resigns as BPSA chairman

Charles Herbert has resigned as chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association (BPSA).

It is the latest development following his joint arrest and charge with fellow Goddard Enterprises Director Chris Rogers and sailor Walter Oneal Prescod,for importing 267.4 pounds of marijuana, possession, trafficking and possession with intent to supply, on July 23.

Herbert is on $400 000 bail.

In the interim, Edward Clarke, President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Executive Vice-President and General Manager Barbados, Sagicor Life Inc. will act as the BPSA’s head.

In a brief statement, the BPSA thanked Herbert for his valuable contribution to the work of the umbrella body of private sector associations, the Social Partnership and to the private sector in Barbados.

A new chairman is to be elected when the association holds its Annual General Meeting next month.
