Gospelfest launched at George Lamming

Our children are our future and it is critical that the island’s spiritual well-being begins with our youth.

This comment came from Senator Irene Sandiford-Garner, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, as she gave her remarks during the launch of Gospelfest at the George Lamming Primary School yesterday morning.

Executive Director of Gospelfest, Adrian Agard, mentioned that choosing to have the launch of the festival at the primary school was no accident as it was their intention to positively impact and help shape the lives of young people through positive initiatives such as Gospelfest. He noted that the festival is more than just great events and the development of local and regional talent, as it is also meant to focus on and inspire positive initiatives and change in our communities. He divulged that this is the reason they remained passionate about hosting their workshops and lectures.

Agard said that the Gospelfest Kids’ Experience each year is meant to inspire the hundreds of children that transition to secondary school and expressed that there are quite a bit of skills and abilities in our young children. He believes that since they are the future of Barbados it is important to find ways to positively impact their lives and help them develop positive attitudes.

“Our focus, as always with the festival, is not just to do events, but find ways to positively impact the lives of the young ones and help them develop positive attitudes. We’ve brought them together each year and encouraged them towards positive outlooks on life,” he said.

Agard went on to say that what is of great importance to them was the way they charted the lives of the future children of the country as much greatness lies in Barbados.

“Our goal is to find the talent in our areas and showcase it to the world,” he said.

Agard expressed that as the festival approaches in 2017, their intention is to look at 2018 and the years to follow with a renewed commitment to promoting the island and its talents nationally.
