Give back

Despite tough times, one local shipping company is encouraging Corporate Barbados to find room in their budgets to give to Nature Fun Ranch and other organisations which do similar work.

This was the view of the Island Manager of Tropical Shipping, Andre Gibson who spoke to the media after a presentation of $5 000 to Nature Fun Ranch recently.

“…We have to work with our local social partners to make sure that no one is left behind and we all do what we can as social neighbours, ” said Gibson.

With the relationship between Tropical Shipping and the Nature Fun Ranch starting two years ago, Gibson said that when he visited the facility and its team and saw what they were getting done with what little they had, it was an easy decision to assist them. The Island Manager noted that he looked forward to a long relationship with the organisation in the future and in the past Tropical Shipping also assisted with some logistics and infrastructural projects while Nature Fun Ranch completed some transformations on the property.

Gibson explained that the donation is for the year 2018 but it was not processed until early this year. He added that a similar donation for 2019 will be made to the St. Andrew facility later in the year. He added the monies are earmarked for the general operations of the ranch. The Island Manager explained that the funds are from the Tropical Shipping Donations Committee as they have a responsibility to give back to the communities that they operate in.

“(Tropical Shipping is) very happy that there are partners locally like the Nature Fun Ranch that we can partner with and help support, ” said Gibson.
