GG visits St. Philip District Hospital

Her Excellency Dame Sandra Mason, Governor General of Barbados was warmly welcomed by the residents and staff of the St. Philip District Hospital, yesterday.

The visit to the Jezreel, St. Philip facility, which provides institutional care for elderly persons as well as severely mentally and physically challenged children and young adults was part of her annual Christmas rounds.

Dame Sandra, accompanied by Minister of Health and Wellness, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bostic enjoyed a brief concert. Rendering songs were residents Tracey Clarke and Philip Francis as well as nurse, Joy-Ann Ward, while Myrtle Nicholls, a resident, recited a poem. Thereafter, she took the opportunity to tour the units of the hospital and greet residents.

The Governor General also extended appreciation to the staff, expressing, “Thank you very much for the care and support that you give to the persons who live in this institution.
And I want to wish all of you and your families the very best for the Christmas season and good wishes for the New Year coming.”
