Deputy Dean (Postgraduate and Research) in the Faculty of Law, The UWI Cave Hill Campus, Mr. Jeff Cumberbatch was on hand to answer questions from prospective students.

Future students learn of offerings

The University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus was recently a hive of activity.

With Admissions Season under way, the Campus hosted its annual Open Day for secondary school students and the wider public to showcase programmes on offer.
Faculties, Departments and Centres from across the Campus provided details about undergraduate and graduate programmes, academic research, and the Lifelong Learning opportunities available for those in pursuit of continuous professional development.

“This activity is very important to The UWI as this again brings us to the forefront and front of mind to students who are trying to make decisions about their future,” Assistant Registrar in charge of the Student Enrolment and Retention Unit (SERU) Sonia Mahon told The Barbados Advocate.

The main event held under the Graduation Tent, also saw Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions Teams on hand to assist prospective students with submitting applications and answer queries relating to entry requirements and the ideal programmes they should pursue to be aligned with their desired career path.

“We recognise that The UWI is the premier educational institution of the region. We have a responsibility to not only be solution driven for the issues that affect us as Caribbean people no matter where we are located in the world, but also to provide other opportunities for young people to express themselves – to really develop their own education and their knowledge and to give back to the societies they are going to be apart of in the future,” she said.
