Forde: Be proactive

One locally owned Insurance company wants Barbadians to start focusing on the hurricane season, according to Human Resources & Marketing Manager of Co-Operators General Insurance Co. Ltd, Cheryl Forde.

She was responding to media questions about the company’s plan to sensitise Barbadians about the importance of disaster preparedness for the pending hurricane season.

Highlighting the devastation last year, Forde said that Barbados would not want this to happen again. She noted that after the hurricane, the company did see people come in to sign up for insurance.

The Marketing Manager encouraged Barbadians to be proactive, check around their home, take a stock of their contents and valuables and get their property insured. Co-Operators General Insurance will continue to disseminate preparedness information on radio and television.

On Wednesday, Co-Operators General Insurance Co. Ltd. launched a special campaign, a 2018 Hurricane Season promotion at The People’s Market. According to Forde, the insurance company in collaboration with the supermarket will give policy holders of Co-operators General an opportunity to receive discounts [with a special card] in the store during the promotion.

The campaign will be held during June 1 to November 30 and each month, one lucky person will receive a hamper. Forde said that the company is trying to ensure that policyholders do not wait until the last minute to shop for the hurricane season.
