Flooded roadways in Black Rock

With the Barbados Meteorological Services issuing a flood warning at 11:15 a.m. yesterday, most Barbadians were not prepared for the heavy showers and high gusts which affected the island.

At a popular supermarket in Black Rock, many shoppers were forced to wait out the unstable weather inside the front of the store.

Those who braved the heavy rain to travel along Black Rock Main Road found that most areas were inundated particularly along Clevedale and St. Stephen’s Hill.

Many drivers found the water to be too deep as some pedestrians walking along the road waded through rain water up their knees. The weather was so severe in some areas that it was impassable. In St. Stephen’s area, a tree fell and it had partially impeded traffic coming from Black Rock Main road and the Grazettes area.

One man from the neighbourhood attempted to remove some of the branches from the road, while redirecting some drivers from the blocked path.
