‘My Name is Victory!’ American Gospel singer, Jonathan Nelson, sang his popular song which the audience joined him at the Sol Ultimate Gospel on Saturday night.

Excellent night for patrons at Sol Ultimate Gospel

The night of Sol Ultimate Gospel 2017 was indeed awesome.

With the event starting officially at 7 p.m., patrons were expecting a line-up of dynamic and inspiring performances from local, regional and international Gospel artistes and they were not disappointed. Within two hours, the audience, who enjoyed the show in the Worrell, Weekes and Walcott stand and on the grounds of the Kensington Oval, were on their feet dancing, and waving their hands and glow sticks to the music of headlining act, Jonathan Nelson.

American Stellar Award songwriter and Gospel singer, Nelson gave an energetic performance, transforming the audience to a church choir as they sang his popular song, “My Name is Victory”. The Baltimore, Maryland native, the son of a pastor, was at home on the stage with his naturally effervescent personality, winning the hearts of hundreds of Barbadians.

Earlier, another American Gospel singer and up-and-coming artist, Lamont Sanders, gave a powerful session in addition to young teen Gospel group, The Chitans. The teenaged singers are originally from Grenada, but reside in Ontario, Canada. Other non-local acts expected to perform included Chicago-based Charles Jenkins. Local and regional singers, Kianne Browne, Stacey Little, Joseph Anthony Williams also impressed the patrons with their soulful performances while the Barbados Gospelfest Mass Choir was also engaging.

Executive producer of the Barbados Gospelfest, Adrian R. Agard told The Barbados Advocate that the festival and the show have been going good so far and the organiser was happy that Barbadians came out to support the event. Gospelfest is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and Agard said that the intention was to bring a music package which Barbadians are familiar with and they had accomplished this. He expressed his appreciation to all their sponsors especially title sponsor Sol for supporting the festival. (KB)
