EMRG 2020 taking place next month

BARBADIANS who have excelled in their chosen fields of endeavour do not get the recognition required.

However, that will be corrected with the first of what could very well be the start of a series high level events celebrating those successes.

The event known as EMRG 2020, will be held next month featuring several young people who have made a name for themselves and their country at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

EMRG 2020 is the brainchild of Consultant and Motivational Speaker Raphael Saul who told the media yesterday that he is very passionate about the programme.

This high-energy inspiration event to be held on January 25 will feature speakers, panels, performances, engaging video, and pulsating music among others. It starts at 6 pm.

Those who will be featured are Jeremy Stephen, Gabriel Abed, Mahalia Cummins, Zane Maloney, Seth Bovell, Leach Marville, Trinity Clarke, Firhaana Bulbulia, Kamille Martindale, Shamelle Rice, Za-Nyah Bostic-White, Victor White, Rommel Hall, and Chrispen Hackett and Simon Alleyne (who make up the popular Rum and Koke duo).

EMRG 2020 has lined up support from such companies as Signia Globe Financial, Starcom Network, Cooperators General Insurance, DMA Value Vacations, Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union Limited, Transcend Technology, and Versus Legal. Each company was represented at the news conference.

“This is a project I am very passionate about and believed a lot in, Saul told the media. He lamented the fact that although there have been countless success stories of young Barbadians over the years, having done some exceptional work across their various endeavours, those successes have not been highlighted.

“What we haven’t had is the space where we can bring those people together, celebrate them and have the opportunity to learn about their stories,” Saul said.

Saul explained to the media that it is very often said that people born in a small country tend to depend on the international market for their exposure.

EMRG 2020 aims to change that, he said, while promising that once more individuals and companies came on board, the programme could become an annual one. He said that when one looks across the landscape of Barbados, there can be found many individuals who although they were born here, were able to achieve dreams far larger than our 166-square mile geographical area.

He maintained that it does not happen that often, forcing “us to look to the international market to highlight those individuals.”

As such Saul said that there are two golden threads that run through this event, one relates to the success stories.
