Dover Beach celebrates its staff

Dover Beach Hotel, this past week, turned the tables on its staff with an awards and recognition event to celebrate the excellent service they provide and their loyalty to the hotel and its guests. General Manager, Marcia Yarde set the tone for the evening in her opening remarks by reminding the staff that “Tonight is about you the staff...”

The top award, Employee of the Year, went to Natalie Franklyn the hotel’s Operations Manager. Franklyn is known as an all-encompassing team member, contributing to every area of the business. Her reward included a watch, a voucher and a staycation at Infinity on the Beach Hotel.

Two recent retirees were also recognised for their years of service. Sandra Maria Clarke and Jacqueline Green-Mayers received gifts which included gift baskets, watches and vouchers for their combined 43 years of service to the hotel. Significant anniversaries of other staff – five, ten and twenty-five years – were also acknowledged and other individuals were also recognised for punctuality, helpfulness, best attendance and most appreciation by guests. 2017 Employee of the year, Kimmel Carrington, was singled out as the People’s Champion for all-round assistance.

The evening’s featured speaker was Marsha Alleyne, Manager of Guest Experiences at Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) who delivered a message of inspiration for the future. Speaking on the topic of “Service Excellence” she challenged the staff to continue to raise the bar on their level of service, “to continue to make the choice daily to choose the road to excellence and seek to create positive, memorable experiences for our guests.”
