Members of the Barbados Entrepreneurship &Tourism Association (BETA) donated some much needed items to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility in St. Lucy recently, following news of theft at the facility.
Donation made to Harrison Point
The Barbados Entrepreneurship and Tourism Association (BETA), an association aimed at building a dynamic and resilient community among persons engaged in the Shared-Economy and Accommodation Sector in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry in Barbados, made a presentation to the Barbados Government, for Harrison Point, of 12 Twin Bedsheets sets, 25 pillows, 408, 16 oz bottles of Glacier Pure water and 6, 43” Westpoint Smart Televisions.
The donation was made possible by BETA, generous monetary contributions from members of BETA, friends of members and suppliers associated with BETA’s exclusive membership discount card.
When our association of 90 strong Property Owners and Property Managers heard of the challenges being faced by Harrison Point, we were deeply moved to mobilize and assist our valued local community and visitors to our island who are and will become clients of the Facility.
Dr. Corey Forde, Manager of the Isolation Facilities at Harrison Point, received and thanked BETA on behalf of all at the facility. He indicated “The Board and management of the QEH and medical staff of the isolation facilities would like to express our sincere thanks for these tremendous donations during these difficult and unprecedented times in Barbados. These donations will go an extremely long way in improving patient comfort and also aid in improving the mental status of patients. We are eternally grateful given our recent challenges and encourage Barbadians to respect the new devices and contributions while continue to contribute towards the fight of COVID-19.”
BETA intends to continue contributing through advocacy and affirmative action to ensure the resilience of the Tourism Industry. We will therefore continue to work hand in hand with our community to always offer hospitality and enhance local and visitor experiences.
