DLP launches commemorative poster

Barbadians now have an opportunity to learn more about the contributions made by The Right Excellent, Errol Walton Barrow through a commemorative poster.

The commemorative poster, which marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of the Father of Independence, was officially launched yesterday at The Lodge School.

General Secretary of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP), George Pilgrim explained that “this poster really is an attempt to contribute to the literature and history of this country and I think it is important that this information be travelled throughout all the primary schools.”

He further indicated that the parish of St. John was selected as the first stop for the distribution of the commemorative poster because it “would have been the constituency that the late leader would have represented for many years and we felt it most appropriate that the primary schools in St. John, along with the secondary school in St. John being the venue or location for the launch of this poster.”

Pilgrim also shared with the gathering – which comprised students and Principals from St. John Primary School, St. Margaret’s Primary School, Mount Tabor Primary School and The Lodge School – the poster’s key features.

“The poster intends to chronicle 30 things that our late leader did during his tenure as Prime Minister and it tells a story, it also gives a history and it also illustrates some of the successes of our late national hero, The Right Excellent, Errol Walton Barrow.”

He additionally emphasised that “there is no cost to the poster. This poster is a contribution to Barbados from the Democratic Labour Party on the occasion of 30 years after his passing.” (MG)
