DLP to celebrate Errol Barrow milestone

THE Democratic Labour Party (DLP) will continue its conversation with Barbadians next week on their way forward following the 2018 loss at the polls.

As part of activities to celebrate the centennial of the Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow’s birth, President Verla De Peiza will deliver the Annual Errol Barrow Memorial Lecture at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus on January 23 at 6 p.m.

“The lecture will be entitled ‘Re-imagining a different Barbados’. It is at this point that we will be outlining our philosophy going forward, and policies that we wish to institute on behalf of the people of Barbados – our first introduction as to our platform as we move forward,” she told members of the media during a press conference, yesterday.

However, the week of activities will officially get under way on Sunday, January 19, with a Church Service at St. Lucy Parish Church at 9 a.m.

On Errol Barrow Day, January 21, the Errol Barrow Legacy Bus Tour will leave the DLP’s George Street Headquarters at 11:30 a.m. and will travel across the island, making stops at points of relevance in the life of the National Hero and first Prime Minister of Barbados.

Also, on January 26, a Zone Meeting will take place at Deighton Griffith Secondary School at 5 p.m. to discuss topics of national interest.

“All are invited to attend our activities. We are inviting Barbadians and visitors alike to come out and experience Errol Barrow and his life with us and through us,” De Peiza expressed. (TL)
