DISGUSTED!

ENOUGH is enough!

This was the chant of thousands of Barbadians who gathered in Jubilee Gardens, The City, as they prepared to join the highly-anticipated Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) “March of Disgust”, yesterday.

At exactly 4:30 p.m., the marchers, led by Reverend Joseph Atherley, left the Gardens armed with placards in hand: “The poor getting poorer”; “DEM don’t care”; “Promises can’t pay bills”; “Barbados deserves better”; and “Vote DEM out”.

“Is our case a righteous one, is our Party a respected one? ...And so we march for a righteous cause, and we march peacefully and in order, but we march with a strength of force of numbers and the justice of our cause. We march today with a strong voice, to let this Government know that enough is enough, we fed up,” Atherley voiced to supporters.

With a heavy Police presence, the marchers made their way through The City, some wearing white, others boldly walked in their red, with their placards held high for all to see, and it was clear they were stepping up because they are fed up with the way the Government has been managing the country.

Spectators lined the streets, some took pictures from store windows, or merely gathered at doors, to see the massive crowd peacefully demonstrate their disgust.

At times, marchers quietly walked listening to the lyrics of conscious music being played on the two trucks, while making their way back to Jubilee Gardens for the “Step Up If Yuh Fed Up” rally. (AH/TL)
