Crowd enjoys sweet, soca tunes at Prime Minister’s reception

Crop Over 2016 may be over, but it seems as though those who headed to Illaro Court on Thursday night did not receive the memo. This as several local artists showcased why Crop Over is truly the sweetest summer festival at the Prime Minister’s reception.

From the beating drums of Dancin Africa – who started the entertainment section of the night – to the sweet sounds of Marvay with his popular song, ‘Ah Know De Face’, the hundreds gathered on the resplendent grounds of the Prime Minister’s official residence showed their appreciation by whining, jumping and lustily singing along to their favourite tunes of the season.

Not even sporadic showers put a damper on the best of the best, including Junior Monarchs, ‘Summa’ and ‘De MC’ and Pic-o-De Crop Queen Aziza showing up and showing off, aptly displaying why they had beat out all comers to claim their respective crowns.

Later in the event, crowd pleasers Mr. Dale, Biggie Irie and Grynner warmed the crowd up with some of their more popular with some of their more popular tunes for the season, before the electric performances of Peter Ram and multi-monarch, Lil Rick, turned the grounds into a sea of waving patrons, belting out the lyrics of ‘All Ah We’, ‘Crop Over Good Morning’, ‘Ah Get Thru’ and ‘I’z A Bajan’.
