CHRISTMAS A TIME TO REFLECT

The Christmas season is a time to reflect on the love that God so richly lavishes on us.

This is according to Reverend Canon Burke, who delivered a few remarks during the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s annual Christmas Service, held in the QEH Chapel yesterday morning.
“This is a very special time as we think of God’s tremendous love for the entire human race. We would never forget that one verse, John 3:16, as being the very essence of Christmas. It exemplifies the heart of what Christmas is all about,” he said.

“Christmas is the time in which we reflect on the way that God Almighty uses us for his will and purpose.”

The Reverend encouraged the congregation to continue to offer the best that they could.

“One of the things that has always been said about Jesus is that He has done all things well, and so excellence has always been the hallmark of the actions of Jesus. This is what we must seek to do as we use our slogan ‘Getting Better Together’. This must be our motto and effort; to offer the very best that we can,” he said.

“And so we pray at this Christmas time, that as God Almighty has used us in the past to touch others and bring about healing and cure, to let persons know that they have not been forgotten and that there are persons who care throughout the length and breadth of the QEH and all varying departments.”

He encouraged them to continue to demonstrate God’s tremendous love for all mankind as they touch the lives of the vulnerable, sick and ailing.

“We pray that at this special Christmas time, that God Almighty, through the power of His Holy Spirit, truly dwell with us, binding us together and making us one so that we many continue to do work in the hospital and continue to do it well,” he said.
