Child care officials rewarded

Rotarians in Barbados believe that child care officials are the unsung heroes behind the scenes, who give of themselves for a better Barbados. This year, the Rotary Club highlighted those persons who have contributed tremendously to the Child Care Board.

Brenda Pope, Acting President of the Rotary Club of Barbados, stated that there are a variety of ways in which people give of themselves, and “actually what we view as the heartbeat of Barbados and we think it is important to celebrate their service. We are proud this year to be honouring those in child care in various children’s homes across the island”.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Barbados presents the Pride of Workmanship Awards and this year the awards ceremony was held at the Accra Resort.

Rotary believes “Pride of Workmanship” – the sense of responsibility to do a job well, to strive for excellence of service and to give of oneself to your chosen vocation – is one of the greatest intangible resources which needs to be recognised in our working community.

Linda Seales, Auxiliary Nurse of the St. Philip District Hospital, highlighted: “In this profession you have to love what you do, it has to come from the heart.” (NB)
