BVHS to host seventh ‘Love Day’ for the homeless

The Barbados Vagrants and Homeless Society (BVHS) will once again be hosting its “Love Day” for the homeless fair in Queen’s Park, this Saturday December 10th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

President of the Barbados Vagrants and Homeless Society Kemar Saffrey has meanwhile noted that this is the Homeless Society’s seventh year in hosting the event.

During the Fair, BVHS sees it fit to assist all persons, whether homeless or vagrants with clothes, food hampers, health tests, hair-cuts and much more, and in the last few years, the BVHS has been widening its reach to include needy persons desirous of tapping into the services on offer.

At the fair, the BVHS also distributes food items and serves a hot meal to its BVHS clients. Saffrey has also noted that if there are persons who need greater assistance than what the BVHS can offer, the staff of the BVHS will be on hand “to point persons in the right direction”.

“People really and need should come and get some assistance. We will be giving away clothing and persons can come and have their blood pressure checked. They can also take advantage of our counselling services or any other services that we offer,” Saffrey remarked.
“This year we are widening our reach and the fair is therefore open to anyone who is in dire need. We will also be increasing our health checks and our additional activities and these will be on offer to the public as well,” Saffrey remarked.

The general public can lend support by simply visiting anytime throughout the day and by also contributing food supplies to the BVHS, to assist with its breakfast feeding programme in general. Assistance is also accepted for any other project the BVHS conducts, to aid its numerous clients. (RSM)
