Businesses show support for Highway 1 resurfacing project

Businesses have signalled their support to the Aron and Christina Foundation to assist with the resurfacing of Highway 1.

Trustee of the Foundation, Aron Truss, revealed to The Barbados Advocate that the project received the first commitments of significant financial support from Cin Cin Restaurant, Nishi Restaurant and Beach View Hotel.

Last week, describing the state of the island’s roads as “deplorable”, the Aron and Christina Foundation announced that it has partnered with C.O. Williams Construction Limited to resurface that stretch of highway between Spring Garden and Holetown.

After making a call for financial support from businesses along that highway and other concerned road users to carry out the important project, Truss happily disclosed that Cin Cin and Nishi will either host a charity fund-raiser dinner with the proceeds going towards the project or they will make a donation. In addition, several owners of condominiums within Beach View Hotel have agreed to donate towards the project.

“The project has also received a lot of support, especially on social media, and we know that many of these supporters cannot afford to make a financial contribution. But, if the many Facebook users were to ‘like’ the Facebook pages of Cin Cin Restaurant, Nishi Restaurant and Beach View Hotel, this will help us to get more businesses to support the project financially,” said Truss, who is also reminding all interested persons that the Foundation is a registered charity.

Therefore, people who donate may claim the donation as a deduction on their Income or Corporation tax. (TL)
