Barbados Labour Party (BLP) candidate, Colin Jordan, is ready for the next General Election.

BLP candidate Jordan feeling positive

Barbados Labour Party (BLP) candidate for St. Peter, Colin Jordan, is optimistic that he has a good chance of winning the seat in the upcoming General Election.

He told The Barbados Advocate during a recent interview that he was confident the residents of St. Peter – the parish where he was born and raised – have always played an active role in community life and have embraced him.

“I have always felt confident that the pesople in St. Peter will make a good decision whenever that time comes,” he said. However, Jordan knows that when elected, he has his work cut out. Jordan said constituents have already been indicating to him that they want to see more jobs opportunities for the youth. They also want to see better infrastructure throughout the rural parish, he explained.

“A lot of constituents want opportunities. The main thing that people are crying out for are jobs. People want the opportunity to be able to provide for themselves, and not have to rely on family members or the government. Wherever I go, people are saying that they want something to do in relation to work.

“Even the young men who are stigmatised, and who people say don’t want to work, want to work. The young people of St. Peter want to work. They want to be able to earn money. Young men want to be their own men so that they can spend their own money,” Jordan said.

The candidate also remarked that over the past five to ten years, some of the roads throughout the parish have deteriorated and need to be fixed.

“Then there are houses in some areas that cannot be accessed by emergency vehicles. So there are a number of things affecting residents that need to be rectified,” he said. (AH)
