BHTA celebrates 65 years with service at St. Mary’s

The Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA) is celebrating 65 years as a private organisation, providing national leadership for vibrant and sustainable tourism development.

Yesterday, the Directors and Secretariat came together to give thanks during a service held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church.

Chairman Roseanne Myers, assured the congregation that BHTA will contribute to ensure that this very important sector continues to strive.

“We are faced with many things in Barbados, but we have to lead and we have to make our contributions to tourism, inspired by a higher power than just money and just profit, and just trying to make our way day by day. We are inspired to do the best that we can with honesty and integrity,” she expressed.

Acknowledging that 65 years is a milestone for any organisation, Myers said that BHTA is cognisant of the fact that there are many persons throughout the years who have sacrificed their time to give to this industry. She therefore revealed that on Wednesday, BHTA will pay tribute to some of those individuals.

The BHTA President also took the opportunity to recognise the Barbados Culinary Team. Myers said besides preparing wonderful meals, they are an inspiration to many young people in Barbados, especially young men.

The Reverend Julian Crawford, Rector at St. Mary’s congratulated the BHTA, urging, “As you celebrate this 65th anniversary, remember that there is no place on this earth where God is not, and hence therefore, should never ever be left out of the equation”.

“As you have been called to service, I urge you, teach, correct, love, help; give your best and encourage all others with whom you serve and work with to do the same, so that in so doing, you will make disciples for growth and development of your institution, your organisation and by extension this community, and this country you serve”.
