Bay Primary Boys urged to dream big

The male students of the Bay Primary School have been reminded that they can accomplish whatever positive goal they set out to achieve.

This timely advice was shared during Friday’s launch of Boys Week 2016 at the school. Activities for this period will officially get under way from Monday.

Boys Week 2016 will see the young lads taking a leading role during Monday’s full assembly. In the days that follow, they will participate in a Career Day, a Physical Activity Day and go on a tour. Their parents and guardians will also have a chance to be a part of the session, ‘Dads Are Important Too’.

Outlining the purpose of Boys Week, which has occurred at the school for the past four years, Principal, Marielon Gamble said its aim is to uplift the boys of the school.

“The focus is on the boys now as it often seems that the girls take centre spot in almost everything. We want the boys… to know that you too can have a dream. A dream of being whoever you want to be. We want our boys to know that they are the future fathers of this great nation, our nation Barbados. The ones we expect to be the guiding force as we surge forward with the dream of another 50 years of nationhood.”

She added that each session is designed to help the boys in achieving their dream of being a good citizen of Barbados.

The theme for the Week is “Mission Possible” and as part of the launch there was a guest performance by Entertainer, Anderson “Blood” Armstrong. Addressing the students, he reminded them of the fact that they are all winners. He also urged them to focus on their goals and to be the best they can be. Armstrong further told the pupils to “study hard. You have to especially work hard [and] even harder to achieve your goals.”
