Barbadians encouraged to support 2017 Globe-athon event

Sagicor Life Inc. and Sagicor General Insurance are proud partners with the Barbados Cancer Society, working to change the status quo in Barbados, through the Globe-athon movement.

Gay Griffith, Vice President of Sales, Barbados, Sagicor Life Inc. acknowledged the above, as he delivered remarks during this year’s launch of the Sagicor, Barbados Cancer Society Globe-athon Walk & Run to End Gynaecological Cancers,
which was held on Monday at the Gynaecological Cancer and Diagnostic Unit of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

“At Sagicor, we are committed to the Globe-athon movement for our clients, our employees, our community and for our families. This movement promotes education and wellness, areas which are important to the health of
our people and our nation. Sagicor is committed to making a difference in the communities in which it operates and we know that this year’s Globe-athon 5K will make a world of difference,” Griffith said.

He meanwhile took the opportunity to encourage all Barbadians to support this year’s event, which will come off on September 3rd, commencing at the Bay Street Esplanade at 4:00 p.m., before joining with the Barbados Cancer Society to hand over a new ultrasound unit worth over $55,000 to the QEH.

“Today, as we hand over this equipment to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, we thank everyone who has made this possible, through their support of the previous four (Globe-athon) events. The Gynaecological Cancer and Diagnostic Unit still needs more equipment and every dollar can make a difference,” Griffith stated.

“Whether you are walking for someone who is affected by cancer or whether you are walking to support the mission to decrease the number of new cases, every step counts,” Griffith informed.

“On September 3rd, we want you to bring your friends and family to the Bay Street Esplanade and walk with us, for your mother, your wife, your daughter, your sister, your niece and all the women of Barbados,” the Sagicor VP advised. (RSM)
